Welcome to my Narrative Project introduction, I will be providing information on my process' and blog posts. The posts entailed differ in genre, perspective, and purpose assisting me with references, ideas, and completing this assignment.
There are many ways to approach writing to achieve a strong piece. In my opinion, the process’ used throughout completing this project are most important. Also, it’s not always easy attempting to compose your best work, it requires a lot of effort. For my narrative project I devoted a lot of time thinking. To be successful, I spent time each day to further my work. I value time management very much and it’s helpful. I struggled with choosing a subject first, but then I referred to my past blog posts.
First, I was curious if my post "Composing a Present Scene" would be useful. I was required to appeal to the five senses and focus on "Description + Scene" and how they fit together. It was basic but, the piece led me to the next step, my other posts! I knew what I wanted to write about immediately when I came across "Composing A Past Scene". Where I wrote about being affected by someone's decision negatively.
Two that sparked so many ideas in my mind were “Composing a past scene”, and “Composing actions into scenes”. Both challenging, that made me have to think deeper. Resulting in new writing methods, genres, and our Narrative Project. Rewriting scenes with description, detail and incorporate dialogue to strengthen my story. To put emotion and thought into my writing. Conveying feeling, description and scene. I began with lists and clusters, giving me many options to choose to write about. After, I free write many times about potential subjects giving me a structure to begin my writing. From there, I ask myself questions and use the answers to include all the information necessary. Next, I edit my writing simultaneously and use the thesaurus to strengthen my work.
Most importantly, submitted my drafts to Professor Dr. Mangini and incorporated his feedback into my rewrite. With support and knowledge, my work can only improve. In addition, I read aloud to my friends to get their feedback since they know me well. All of these steps led to a well-written, complete assignment that I used for my Narrative piece.
Since Draft #1, "A Rough Chapter" I was required to re-write my Narrative Piece incorporating a counterfactual outcome. This was done in blog post #9 for Draft #2, where I applied a different point of view and outcome to the story. I also attached a Vlog where I reflected on how the revision process affected my real-life interpertation of the event. Rewriting my story normalized the decision for me and helped me become more comfortable with the situation. It seemed less hectic and put the story into a different perspective simply by taking myself out of it.
