It is not light that we need, but fire; it is not the gentle shower, but thunder. We need the storm, the whirlwind, and the earthquake.

This post was developed after my project was done and I was able to reflect on my process’. I genuinely feel like I put too much time into taking notes and staring at a blank screen. I would have the hardest time trying to write this paper in a bad mood. I felt like when I felt better, I wrote smoother. I didn’t question everything I wrote and I could believe in myself. It wasn’t a hard topic, I was provided all materials necessary, just putting things into words was complicating. We had so many things we could discuss along with freedom. I appreciated one of our main sources could be our own results. I was able to support my thesis based off of my personal experience. That the process has a positive impact on a person’s well-being. I have never participated in a study such as “3 Good Things” before. But, it helped me focus on what makes me happy in life and my strengths. I have found reflection allows me to re-evaluate situations in attempt to fix them. Although I enjoyed writing this piece, it was definitely difficult. I took never-ending pages of notes, printed out sources, elaborated on my entries, and compared with other material. One helpful thing I did was write down questions I thought about while researching for the paper. In addition, complete the mini-assignment sheets for a timeline and structure of my paper. It gave me more ideas and material to include in my paper. The writer’s block would be the major thing I struggled with but, overall I am proud of this piece. I never gave up on the project and honestly wanted to incorporate it into my life. When I look back on this process, I realize I wasn’t paying enough attention to what made me happy. I used this process as a learning experience and I hope it was positive for others as well. I am proud of my final draft and results with this study. **ENJOY! When researching I used multiple process’ to help me create a strong piece. I used my personal data, sources, and questions to develop data. Although,I still felt like I needed more information after I collected what was needed. Instead of calling a friend I decided to interview them. I planned to voice record a conversation between my two best friends and I to get different perspectives on my topic. We were in the car discussing school when I came up with the idea and they didn’t mind. I asked a few questions pertaining to my paper and they had a difficult time answering. We came up with the different positive effects of the “3 Good Things” process. We found it’s motivating, self-actualizing, and improvement. Also, I collected a different type of data for my project now. After, when I would get writer’s block I would listen to the voice memo and it would help every time.

I decided to use the suggested writing process for the beginning section for my Research Project by creating an anecdote, a short version of a real event in my life. I took one of my gratitude entries from my “Gratitude Journal” and elaborated on it. I turned a moment into a scene with detail and purpose. I may use this in the introduction of my draft to support my claim and thesis. I used this particular moment because it was a very stressful one for me. Even after being satisfied with my results, I still wanted to approach the process a different way to not feel as stressed. By writing this piece it allowed me to realize parts where I was making it worse for myself. Which gave me positive intentions and goals to handle stressful situations in a less damaging way. Saturday, November 3rd, 2018I sigh loudly in disbelief, there were so many things I felt like I needed to study before my Communications exam at nine in the morning. My anxiety twists my stomach when I think of the worst outcome of the test. I value my grades and waited until the last minuet to study. I kept myself up with coffee and tears, feeling overwhelmed and distressed. I would reflect on my notes and create flash-cards for material and terms. After creating them, I go over the notes in highlighter and group them. My bed is stained from pen marks and crowded by papers. Even though I’ve been up all night studying the material, I still feel so anxious about it. My eyes begin to burn and I notice it is two in the morning. I decided to sleep and review my progress in the morning before class. When I awake, my mother gives me a motivational pep-talk to get me through the day and I get ready. Then, nine rolls around and It’s time for all of my studying to go to work. I look forward to reviewing answers with my professor and class after completing the test. The classroom remained silent and I still felt unsure about my results. Turns out, after reviewing I marked everyone correct, I got a 100%! I also managed to get the extra credit points achieving a 53/50. It felt amazing to accomplish and I felt relieved I got it over with and can rely on myself.
Happiness QuizWhile generating research for my project, I will be utilizing every resource to strengthen my argument. In this post, I will be providing my answers and perspective to a "Happiness Quiz". This quiz is based off of thousand's of scientific studies and provides positive feedback. I scored a 47, It consists of 13 questions and is out of 115 points. It told me by learning some new skills and using the effort needed I am able to become happier and life a better lifestyle. After taking the quiz, I read the attached link "7 Habits of Happy People" to learn more about how I can improve my happiness. It mentioned various ways, such as expressing yourself, cultivating kindness, exercising, discovering strengths, and treasuring gratitude. Reflection: Before taking the quiz, I had second thoughts on the accuracy of it based of the low amount of questions. As I went through, I thought most questions were vague and had trouble deciding. I liked that there was many options but, I think that's what made it harder. Towards the end, I knew my score wasn't going to be high since my answers were't consistent. I recognize I need to learn new skills and use them but it is not easy. I'm certain if i had a source of new strength I could flourish more, it just feels like a complicated time. Lately, I have been considering going back to therapy and finding new ways to improve my happiness and well-being. I believe if I did more research in these subjects I could educate myself and find strength from within. It's not always easy to keep yourself together and move on but, happiness is a choice.
This is an insight of the daily things I find gratitude in within a week’s time. It’s about my positive experiences, and what makes life feel more worthy. I used positive psychology as the main focus as I tracked my moments during the week. The purpose of doing this was to improve my well-being and help me find light of everyday. P.E.R.M.AThe P.E.R.M.A Model is used in Positive Psychology and is composed of 5 components. I will be applying it to my journal entries from the "three good things" project. Where each letter represents it's own piece of the model. P, is for positive emotion, pleasure and enjoyment. E, mainly for engagement or flow. R, meaning relationships, social belonging, and connections. M, for meaning, purpose, or fulfillment. Finally, A for accomplishments, and achievement. P: positive emotion, pleasure and enjoyment E: engagement or flow R: relationships, social belonging, and connections M: meaning, purpose, or fulfillment A: accomplishments, and achievement After I used this model to analyse my entries, I have found many applied to me. I tallied at least two or more for each component. For a visual example I will display my chart!
